According to a recent article in The Atlantic, President Trump spends his downtime in the Oval Office dining on fast food and yelling at the TV with Vice President Pence. Feel better about the direction of the country yet?
The article describes tales from the trenches from key White House aides who have survived the Trump administration’s outrageous turnover rate. They also paint a picture of what day to day looks like with Trump as boss.
One long standing tradition in the White House is a one-on-one meals with the President and the Vice President. Not anymore.
This president reportedly invites both his and Mr. Pence’s aides in to dine with them in the small room off from the Oval Office.
It’s in this room, which houses a big screen TV tuned to cable news, where Trump throws a little fit. Somehow this just isn’t surprising.
In the article, aides set the scene for us. They say they have walked in before and found Mr. Trump “yelling at the TV as he sits with Pence and their deputies over plates of chicken and cheeseburgers.”
Since Trump’s daily schedule was leaked months ago, we now know for sure that he spends a good amount of his day on “executive time” and we also know that’s just a nice name for “hanging around watching news reports about himself”.
We also now know, given some recent White House visits, that Trump has quite an affection for fast food, considering he’s provided McDonald’s and Wendy’s for guests.
We probably shouldn’t be surprised that he has combined all of this with his tantrums to make one great dining experience.
Sources in the article say that while Trump is watching TV, if he sees something he doesn’t like or agree with on, he will call in a cluster of people to discuss a response.
Trump’s attacks on the media seem to be getting worse with his recent remarks calling them “corrupt and getting worse” but that isn’t stopping his TV viewing.
Glad to know Mr. Trump has priorities straight.
