President Donald Trump, as evidenced in the +30,000 tweets he has racked up, is not known for holding his tongue about anything. Unless, perhaps, it benefits him somehow.
Such is the case for convicted offender and Palm Beach billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who pleaded the fifth when questioned about Trump socializing with minors.
Flashback to the 2016 presidential campaign when Trump made clear that he would use former President Bill Clinton’s alleged past ‘indiscretions’ against his opponent Hillary Clinton. Not unnoticed, however, was Trump’s carefully crafted avoidance of one name- Jeffrey Epstein, who was convicted of atrocious crimes against minors- and who shares a long friendship with President Trump.
VICE News published a telling report that included a history of the connection between Trump and Epstein and also included quotes from Epstein’s 2010 trial. The following question and answer conversation between the prosecutor and Epstein surely raises questions.
Q: Have you ever had a personal relationship with Donald Trump?
A. What do you mean by “personal relationship,” sir?
Q. Have you socialized with him?
A. Yes, sir.
A. Yes, sir.
Q. Have you ever socialized with Donald Trump in the presence of females under the age of 18?
A: Though I’d like to answer that question, at least today I’m going to have to assert my Fifth, Sixth, and 14th Amendment rights, sir.
Obviously, since then Trump’s attorneys have tried to distance the Trump name from any association with a known and convicted offender but the evidence is there. From trips to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago to Trump’s own words to New York magazine from 2002 coming back to haunt him, there is no denying these two share a past.
“I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy… He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”President Donald Trump
