On Thursday, Fox News host Ainsley Earhardt said on-air that the U.S. defeated “communist Japan” in World War II as she defended America’s greatness.
During a “Fox & Friends” segment, Earhardt attempted to rebuke New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s comment that America had never been great by offering, “We defeated communist Japan.
Two small problems with Earhardt’s understanding: Japan has never been communist and was under imperial rule during World War II.
Earhardt continued, “we ask our men and our women to go overseas to fight for our country and sacrifice so much for this great country so we can be the land of the free. The land of the brave.”

But she wasn’t finished praising American greatness, adding, “We’re the most generous country in all of the world,” she said. “Yes, we have our faults, but because of this country, this world is definitely a better place. We are great.”
One of her “Fox & Friends” co-hosts Steve Doocy appeared to correct Earhardt by saying that the U.S. has defeated “communism and Japan and so many other things as well.” But the damage was already done.
It makes sense that this should happen on “Fox & Friends” as, in this era, they are the closest proximity America has ever had to state “news.” The depth of knowledge one gains by watching this show is not unlike the depth of knowledge one gains from listening to a Trump rally speech.
