President Trump is notorious for his nonsensical tweets and Twitter has finally had enough, calling BS on one of his posts.
The Washington Post reported that Twitter slapped a recent video retweeted by the President with a “manipulated media” label, alerting other users that the video has either been tampered with or is just not entirely truthful.
The tweet, first shared by the White House’s head of social media, Dan Scavino, is a video that SEEMS to show Democratic presidential candidate frontrunner Joe Biden accidentally endorse President Trump by saying “We can only reelect Donald Trump.”
What REALLY happened, in reality and within context is that Biden went on to say a bit more.
The entire quote was, “We can only reelect Donald Trump if in fact we get engaged in this circular firing squad here.
It’s got to be a positive campaign.” That’s a little different than the tweet being perpetuated by Trump and his cronies.
The Post reported that Twitter hit the tweet with the manipulated media label at about 5pm on Sunday, 18 hours after Scavino first posted it.
Twitter just recently announced its new manipulated-media policy which is hopefully going to help fight deceptive and edited content. The tag hasn’t quite worked the way it was intended, said a Twitter rep who stated that they are trying to fix a glitch.
Scavino tweeted a reply, saying the video “was NOT manipulated” and of course Trump retweeted that.
Obviously this is NOT the first time Trump has shared a doctored video on social media.
Last month, Trump shared a ridiculously edited video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tearing up a copy of his State of the Union speech while last year he shared an edited video that was doctored to make it appear like Pelosi was drunk, or at the least slurring her words.
