Earlier this month, the billionaire Jeffrey Epstein was found dead by apparent suicide in his prison cell where he was being held for the alleged sex trafficking of underage girls in New York and Florida in the early 2000s.
According to the New York Times, those charges could have left Epstein facing up to 45 years behind bars.
Long before these recent accusations, however, Epstein has been tied to numerous scandals and, what’s more, he has a lifetime of ties to one very key world leader: President Donald Trump. Keep scrolling to read more on Epstein’s alleged crimes and how our president is tied up in it all.
In the early 2000s, Epstein was facing similar accusations in Florida but while prosecutors worked on an huge indictment against him, he struck a plea deal and only had to cop to two prostitution charges, much less than what he COULD have faced. The U.S. Attorney at the time was Alexander Acosta and he played a key role in the deal. In 2017, new President Donald Trump nominated Acosta to be the U.S. Secretary of Labor, who was confirmed to that position.
The controversial deal was kept quiet from victims and granted immunity to any of Epstein’s cohorts who might have been involved. Epstein served a small sentence in a county jail, barely over a year and was allowed out for work release for the majority of that time. The deal has been described as “considered one of the most lenient sentences for a serial sex offender in history.”
Earlier this year, however, a federal judge ruled that Acosta, along with other federal prosecutors, broke the law when they signed that plea deal because it violated the Crime Victims’ Rights Act by keeping it from the victims themselves. But ultimately the deal was not ruled invalid by the DOJ.
The Acosta connection is just the beginning of this mess and the ties to Donald Trump. In 2002, New York Magazine ran a profile on Epstein and in it Trump was quoted as saying, “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.” Catch that?

In June 2016, a lawsuit was filed by a woman in Manhattan who claimed that she attended a party at Epstein’s home in 1994 and that she was raped at that party by one Donald Trump. Yes, our president. The math tells us that that woman would have been THIRTEEN years old at the time of that incident. The charges were ultimately dropped but the ties just keep coming.
Reports also surfaced that a woman named Virginia Roberts worked at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club when she was introduced to and sexually abused by Jeffrey Epstein. In 2018, Roberts came forward along with DOZENS of other women with shocking allegations against Epstein.
Now, in a recent New York Times piece, we see a better look into the friendship between the two wealthy men. The piece described parties at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago where he and Epstein conducted what was basically a “calendar girl” competition amongst two dozen girls they had flown in for the occasion. We also take a look at what ended the “yearslong friendship”- a real estate deal gone bad when the two men were battling to purchase the same oceanfront mansion in Florida.
Old photos and archived footage from NBC actually shows the two men living it up in the early 90s, partying together and discussing women at Mar-a-Lago. Despite the appearances, Trump has tried to paint a different picture saying, “I haven’t spoken to him in 15 years. I was not a fan of his, that I can tell you.” Hmmm.
Shortly after Epstein was found dead, Trump RETWEETED this:

Although Trump has worked to distance himself from any real connections to Jeffrey Epstein, he has continuously showed up in this menacing scandal.
