CBS News reported last week, Robert Mueller has rejected a proposal from Trump’s legal team to in which it was requested that the president be allowed to submit written answers to questions related to the Russia investigation.
This information came courtesy of former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who joined Trump’s legal team last month and has been the megaphone of so much information in his short tenure. Last week, Giuliani said in an interview that the proposal had been rejected, per the CBS News report.
Further, Giuliani said that if Trump does agree to a sit-down interview with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, there would be pre-conditions and certain topics would be off-limits altogether. He did not go into detail about which topics might be included from a hypothetical interview.
The reported noted that the president’s legal team’s preference for written responses versus a face-to-face interview could be that they hope to protect the president from possibly lying or misleading the FBI investigators. That seems to be the thought process as Giuliani told CBS it would take him up to three weeks to review all of the information prior to any kind of interview.
At this point, I just wonder which ranks higher on Giuliani’s list of task priorities: pissing off Robert Mueller or making President Trump appear increasingly shady to the American public. This investigation has been underway for a year now… and the president’s legal team would need three weeks to compose a written response or coach Trump on his answers?
Giuliani is basically the Scarmucci of Trump’s legal team. How has he managed to last this long?
