In a recent interview with Anderson Cooper, retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters said that if Trump loses the White House in 2020, his departure could be ugly. He went on to say that he believes that whether Trump wins or loses, he will continue to cause “great damage” to this country. But if he loses, Peters says, Trump will be “clinging to the doors of the White House.”
Peters begins by saying that he thinks that if the Democrats can hold it together, they stand a good chance of reclaiming the White House in 2020 and that he also thinks the President is well aware of that given his current polling. He brings up that if there is a new President then with that comes a new administration and that Trump would then be in the hands of the courts which is something the commander in chief certainly doesn’t want to see.
Peters believes that if Trump does not win re-election in 2020, that this will undoubtedly be the “ugliest departure from the White House in American history.”
“I don’t think you’re going to have to wait to see some of Trump’s maliciousness. He’s already doing tremendous damage.”Lt. Col. Ralph Peters
When Cooper questions if the Mueller investigation on Russian interference matters to Trump because it lessens his victory and damages his ego or whether he is stonewalling justice being done because he actually needs and wants Russian interference again, Peters says he believes that to be so. He says “I believe he is afraid.” Peters goes on to say that he thinks Trump’s fear comes from knowing that he is going to be exposed for criminal behavior.
Peters emphasizes that he thinks President Trump will welcome any help from Russian interference or from any OTHER source in the upcoming election because of his desperation to win the election at all costs. Peters points out that our own President is an “accessory and assistant” to Russian president Vladimir Putin, who is an enemy to the US because he has chosen to be one and that he wants harm to come to the US through any means necessary.
“If Trump wins, he’ll do great damage. But if he loses the election, he is going to call upon his supporters to violence… But you will see at least isolated violence in the part of crackpot supporters.”Lt. Col. Ralph Peters
Peters says Trump is doing all of this damage with the willing help from Senate Republicans who are “amazingly, undercutting their own institution and its powers for very short-term gain.” Cooper says that he thinks the Republican party of his youth, Reagan’s party, the party of Patriots and the Constitution, in Peters’ words, is silent and moreover, nonexistent at this point.
