Omarosa Manigault Newman’s upcoming book Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House continues to make waves.
The latest controversial claim reportedly made in Unhinged is that the president referred to his eldest son as a “f— up” for releasing emails about the 2016 Trump Tower campaign meeting with a Russian lawyer with connections to the Kremlin, in an apparent attempt to make the meeting appear innocuous. As we all know… that isn’t how it played out.
Those e emails showed British publicist Rob Goldstone, who is linked to Russia and acted as an intermediary for the June 2016 meeting, offering incriminating information on Trump’s rival: Hillary Clinton. The emails also contradicted Trump Jr.’s prior claim that he was unaware of was told of the lawyer’s links to Moscow ahead of the meeting.
Immediately after Trump Jr. released the emails were released, the president bizarrely defended his son as a “high-quality person.” But that allegedly was not an accurate reflection of how Donald Trump’s true feelings.
Per the New York Daily News, which obtained a copy of the book, according to Manigault, President Trump said, “He is such a f— up,” after he saw his son had posted screenshots on his twitter account of emails setting up the meeting. “He screwed up again, but this time, he’s screwing us all, big-time!”
Recently, President Trump himself contradicted his previous statements about the meeting. In a tweet refuting reports that he is concerned that his son may have inadvertently broken the law, the president confirmed that the meeting was held for opposition research. This despite his repeated denials extending as far back as a year and a half ago.
Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower. This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics – and it went nowhere. I did not know about it!
