On Monday, MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace used a great new insult when describing the ongoing Mexico/Trump situation- she likened it to a fed up mother having to deal with an immature and bratty child. Regarding his most recent outbursts, she said:
“It’s an appropriate bookend to what was a classic Trump tale: threaten, back down, then declare victory and ignore every last one of the facts, and attack the media every step of the way… “Nicolle Wallace, on Trump
The latest in the back and forth came Friday, when the president backed off his threat to impose a 5% tariff on all goods coming in from Mexico. He says he backed off because Mexico agreed to try to curtail the illegal border crossing but guess what? That’s one of Trump’s little white lies, according to a New York Times report from Saturday which revealed that the border deal was actually conducted MONTHS ago, completely separate from Trump’s tariff tantrums and threats.
Trump went all to pieces over the NYT report, calling it another false report, saying that Mexico had actually agreed earlier to immediately start purchasing large quantities of U.S. agricultural products, however, Mexico’s ambassador to the U.S. has not confirmed this statement.
MEXICO HAS AGREED TO IMMEDIATELY BEGIN BUYING LARGE QUANTITIES OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCT FROM OUR GREAT PATRIOT FARMERS!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 8, 2019
Furthermore, Blooomberg News, who spoke to three Mexican officials, also could not confirm any agreements on such an agricultural deal like the one Trump lauded.
MSNBC’s Wallace said that the president’s behavior throughout this was classic Trump and had this amazing take-down to paint the picture for viewers: “
But to me this seems like in parenting, when the child cries wolf so many times, and then in the end, Mexico’s the mom and they’re like, ‘Yeah, no, we’re done with this phase of our diplomatic relationship with you, man-child,’Nicolle Wallace, on Trump
