Out of concern that the event was taking a partisan turn, some US military chiefs refused to attend President Trump’s July 4th celebration and military extravaganza. Their decision to sit this one out prompted Fox Business Network host Lou Dobbs to go on the attack, calling them “snowflakes” and calling their service records into question saying they “haven’t won a war since 1991.”
CNN had first reported the story that certain military chiefs were concerned about the political overtones that were seeping into the “Salute to America” event, as July 4th celebrations have traditionally been non-partisan and purely patriotic in nature. celebration of America.
Dobbs tweeted a link to a MailOnline report stating that some of the military chiefs had been on the fence deciding whether or not to attend Trump’s event, and he said, “No wonder these Snowflake Generals haven’t won a war since 1991.”

What Dobbs failed to mention is that as per specific military rules, military personnel in uniform are forbidden from participating in political events, which many feared this was quickly becoming.
While some criticized Dobbs for insulting military leaders on Independence Day, VoteVets, a progressive veterans group, tweeted a poignant reply:
Former chief of staff to VPs Al Gore and Joe Biden, Ronald Klain, held no punches when he said, “I met many of these incredible men and women when I worked at the WH. Lou Dobbs isn’t fit to carry their groceries.”
Former US Army officer and filmmaker Rod Lurie chimed in as well:
“As a vet I certainly do not speak for all other vets. But to me, the American Military represents the best of us. Attacking them in this manner is unpatriotic and ungrateful – especially from a man like #LouDobbs who has never worn the uniform of our country.”Former US Army Officer Rod Lurie
Dobbs has become a strong ally of President Trump, especially using his voice from a prominent media position to defend Trump often. He tweeted later on the 4th, saying “God Bless America and our Great President!”
