President Trump has a history of using Christmas to his political advantage at every turn, whether it is riling up the rally crowds to fight back against the “war on Christmas” or promoting “massive tax cuts for the American people” as a “Christmas gift.”
But now one former executive from the Trump Organization says that secretly Trump is harboring ill feelings about Christmas that make him seem less like “The Donald” and more like “The Grinch.”
Barbara Res, who once served as a vice president in the Trump Organization, cites several reasons and examples of Trump’s Christmas crankiness and one of the main culprits? The dreaded Christmas Bonus. Sure, as an employee that’s something we all look forward to, but to Trump, he was the one responsible for giving them OUT and Res said he hated that aspect of his job during the holiday season.
Res spoke with MSNBC’s Ari Melber and when Melber questioned Res about what it was like working with someone who didn’t take too much time off, even during holidays, Res replied:
“That killed him, to give away money…Former Trump Executive Barbara Res
Res said that Trump also dreaded going away on his annual family ski trip at Christmastime, namely because he felt he couldn’t trust the people left behind to work while he was gone. She went on, “Yeah, he hated Christmas because he went away for a week… I don’t think he wanted to leave the company alone without him,” she added, “Y’know, we would all do something.”
They also talked about the recently passed law in NY that would make his state tax filings finally available to certain Congressional committees by request. Melber asked how Res thought Trump was likely feeling about this new law and Res said, “Well, yeah he feels like everyone’s after him…”
