President Trump using Twitter as his own personal platform for attacking nearly anyone and everyone is nothing new. But last week he was in a particularly whiny mood, it seems, and went after member of his own party, calling the “Never Trump” Republicans “human scum” in a twitter tirade.
Trump tweeted: “The Never Trumper Republicans, though on respirators with not many left, are in certain ways worse and more dangerous for our Country than the Do Nothing Democrats,” Trump tweeted. “Watch out for them, they are human scum!”
Now, we’re used to Trump’s special brand of anger-tweeting, but this seemed to be even more fiery than normal.
He was most likely directing this rant to the likes of Mitt Romney and other party members who have failed to come to the president’s defense in the impeachment inquiry.
The president went into EXACTLY how he feels about the “Never Trump” Republicans in a whole series of ranting and raving tweets. The second of those tweets was meant for attorney John Bellinger, who represented the acting ambassador to Ukraine, Bill Taylor during his recent deposition.
Trump tweeted: “Never Trumper Republican John Bellinger, represents Never Trumper Diplomat Bill Taylor (who I don’t know), in testimony before Congress!”
Never Trumper Republican John Bellinger, represents Never Trumper Diplomat Bill Taylor (who I don’t know), in testimony before Congress! Do Nothing Democrats allow Republicans Zero Representation, Zero due process, and Zero Transparency….

He added: “Does anybody think this is fair? Even though there was no quid pro quo, I’m sure they would like to try. Worse than the Dems!”
For his fourth tweet, he said, “It would be really great if the people within the Trump Administration, all well-meaning and good (I hope!), could stop hiring Never Trumpers, who are worse than the Do Nothing Democrats… Nothing good will ever come from them!”

As expected, Twitter users had PLENTY to say in return.
Author James Gleick tweeted, “The nation’s leader describes political opponents in his own party: “human scum.” I can’t get used to this. Tinpot despots talk this way. Hitler and Mussolini talked this way. No American president, ever before.”
Well-known conservative columnist Jonah Goldberg tweeted, “It was outrageous for Hillary Clinton to refer to people she disagreed with politically ‘deplorable’!” Same people: “Hooray for Trump calling people who disagree with him ‘human scum!'”

Journalist Jay Nordlinger added, “If a Democratic president called his critics and opponents “human scum,” all of us conservatives would say that this was outrageous and ominous from a leader in a democracy.
We would say that this was reminiscent of Communists, fascists, and other such types. What say we now?”
One person, from the account Truth Writer, wondered why the tweet didn’t qualify as one that goes against the Twitter policies on violence, noting that violence appeared to be the president’s intent, saying, “Trump is calling Republicans who oppose him “human scum”, which is the language of genocide. He has pinned the tweet in an effort to incite violence…”
Even with all the backlash from his comments, Trump refuses to apologize for the “human scum” remarks. Many in his camp have justified his critical outburst against the “Never Trumpers” but then again, it seems he has surrounded himself with an entourage of people who will nod and smile at just.about.anything.
