Donald Trump Jr. has millions of followers on social media and recently his 2.3 million followers on Instagram were treated to a picture of himself holding an AR-15-style rifle which had a magazine decorated with an illustration of former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton behind bars.
The caption read: “Nice day at the range. @rarebreedfirearms and @spikes_tactical adding a little extra awesome to my AR and that mag.”
He then threw in some fire and laugh-until-crying emojis just to make sure everyone gets just how hilarious and entertaining he is.
Insert my own eye-roll emoji here. It’s pretty clear that Trump Jr. referencing one of the most frequent chants that can be heard at his dad’s campaign rallies- “Lock her up.”
The gun, called the Crusader, was made by the Texas company Rare Breed Firearms, which he tagged in the post.
It also dons the image of a Christian soldier’s helmet and the Jerusalem cross.
The cross featured is often used as a symbol for the medieval wars between Christian and Muslim fighters.
The post has garnered hundreds of thousands of likes but the comment section blew up with remarks on both sides of the argument and the argument carried over to Twitter where plenty of users were expressing their opinions.
One Twitter user said, “Why doesn’t he just ask his doctor if Viagra is right for him?” while another said, “Don Jr. is so sure @HillaryClinton is going to visit his dad in prison he had it printed on his gun mag. Dude, she won’t visit.
Despite the Trump family history of dodging the military, many other people had similar questions.
PLEASE be the first with their boots on the ground. Lead the attack from the front for change. Show us how it’s done, big guy. Or are hereditary bone spurs keeping you on the bench?”
It’s unclear if Trump Jr. is the owner of the weapon but a spokesperson for him said that the “Instagram post was strictly about him using a famous meme to mock Hillary Clinton, as he and many others have done on numerous occasions and will surely do again in the future, so long as it continues triggering humorless liberals.”
After Trump Jr.’s Instagram post, the Rare Breed Firearms company, which also created the Hillary image, said in a social media post that it was receiving “lots of questions” about the Clintom magazine. The company said “Head over to our website and get yours. They’re going fast.”
Trump Jr. loves to taunt Clinton, most recently dedicating his book “Triggere” to “deplorables”, a reference to a Hillary Clinton comment about Trump supporters.
