That, in nutshell, is what Republicanism has become: looking at any problem and saying, “What would a dick do?”
Bill Maher went on a little tirade recently on his show, Real Time with Bill Maher. And boy, were Republicans ever on the receiving end. It started like this: “Republicans have to learn the difference between being conservative and just being a dick.”
Maher was dissecting the early moves of the Trump administration, and points out that nothing they have done is moving the country in a more conservative direction, and neither is it moving it in a more libertarian direction.
He first cites the fact that Trump removed the ban on lead bullets – put into place to keep bald eagles from being poisoned and dying. Lead is poisonous. If eagles eat bullets without lead, they don’t die. Great move, trump. Does removing the bad save jobs? Does it day money? Does it do anything conservative? No. “It’s just about some warped idea that they way to show strength is by being a dick.”
Maher then pares the concept down to its simplest form: “That, in nutshell, is what Republicanism has become: looking at any problem and saying, ‘What would a dick do?’ “
And he goes on to discuss the fact that our “anti-EPA EPA” has approved the use of a pesticide widely known to cause cognitive development problems. He reminds us that Republicans bashed Michelle Obama for encouraging our children to eat vegetables, and that school lunch/breakfast initiatives encourage dependency on the government.
He even points out that EPA chief Scott Pruitt is unconvinced of the problems with asbestos…
Folks, this is worth the couple of minutes to watch it. And if you’re tired of Republicans pretending to be conservative when they’re really just dicks, then share this on your own page…
