Under former president Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Madeline Albright was on of the top diplomats in the country.
Because of her extensive knowledge and experience, she has maintained a commanding authority on both national and international relations.
Recently, Ms. Albright sat down with David Axelrod. During their discussion, she was able to clearly articulate why President Donald Trump has done more to harm our national security than to help it, and how his divisive rhetoric has emboldened ISIS. Ms. Albright feels that Trump’s actions and words are dangerous, “un-American and anti-American”.
She also believes that Trump’s borderline racist talk and policies are disturbingly harmful to the fight against ISIS. In her words, “Frankly, it’s a great recruiting tool for ISIS.”
By attempting to implement an anti-immigration agenda that targets citizens of nations we must partner with, including Iraq, Ms. Albright believes Trump is leading our country down a dangerous path. Trump’s proposed immigration policies causes “disincentive to cooperate”, and makes the process of gathering intelligence even more difficult.
Citing the dangers of Trump’s “America First” talk, Ms. Albright also criticized his nationalist agenda:
“Our way of life is totally dependent on having partners in other countries. By saying that we’re going to pull up the drawbridge and be hostile towards those that are different … has been very shortsighted. And we will suffer, our economy will suffer, our capability of competing in a number of different ways, and of being leaders.”
Ms. Albright has intelligent, well-informed thoughts on the dangers of the Donald Trump presidency. To hear more, check out the full interview.
