Anderson Cooper had a lot to say about the highly anticipated testimony given by Michael Cohen, former personal attorney and “fixer” for President Donald Trump, but one statement in particular sums it the whole debacle up in one mouthful. On Tuesday, Cooper explained the Cohen-Trump connection like this:
“A known liar who lied for another known liar because the liar told him to lie and paid him to lie.”Anderson Cooper, on Michael Cohen and Donald Trump
Cohen’s will give his testimony on Capitol Hill in front of the House Oversight and Reform Committee. He began Tuesday night with a private session with the Senate Intelligence Committee where he was asked questions about Russian Interference with the 2016 election.
The New York Times published a copy of Cohen’s introductory remarks and it’s easy to see Anderson Cooper’s tongue twisting truth at work here as Cohen says of the president:
“In conversations we had during the campaign, at the same time I was actively negotiating in Russia for him, he would look me in the eye and tell me there’s no business in Russia and then go out and lie to the American people by saying the same thing… In his way, he was telling me to lie.”Michael Cohen
Cooper, host of CNN’s Anderson 360 had more to say about Michael Cohen while calling out the President as well.
“There is no doubt that Michael Cohen has lied, and lied a lot… He lied while working for Donald Trump, for his company. He lied on TV promoting Trump’s campaign. And he lied under oath to Congress. He’s a convicted felon. The difference between him and President Trump is that Cohen has admitted to lying. The president has not.”Anderson Cooper
