Trump has made some audacious claims since he arrived in the White House in 2017, and Monday was no different as he inserted himself into the ground zero response team during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Now people are taking to Twitter to call him out on this outright nonsense, many using the hashtag #LostTrumpHistory.
At a Rose Garden ceremony where Trump signed into law a much anticipated bill giving permanent compensation to the 9/11 first responders who have since become ill because of their heroic efforts, Trump made the comments. In true Trump fashion, addressing some of the nation’s most prolific heroes, including friends and families who had LOST loved ones and colleagues in the attacks, he had to flip the conversation to insert himself.
Trump’s claim that seemed to be saying he was actually WITH the first responders drew immense pushback and disbelief. Make no mistake, he was seen in lower Manhattan the week following the attack but there is NO evidence that shows he had any real presence at Ground Zero amid the first responders.
Back, on September 11, 2001, the day of the attack, Trump was actually featured on WWOR-TV where he spoke by phone with a reporter and FALSELY claimed that a building he owned nearby had just become the tallest building in the area since the World Trade Center was leveled. Wow.
Twitter users are having a field day, choosing to use humor to deal, posting photoshopped images on Twitter with the hashtag #LostTrumpHistory and showing Trump ridiculously inserted into many events from history.
Take a look below at some of the highlights of #LostTrumpHistory:
The President’s take on history has been making headlines recently, but not in the way he might have wanted. He’s been mocked not only for this first responders bit but also for a July 4 speech he gave in Washington DC, where he claimed that during the Revolutionary War, the 18th century American army “seized airports” from the British.
If your lips are moving, you are lying. We all know that. You can’t help yourself. You have achieved nothing by yourself. You hang on the coattails of others and try to steal their thunder. You are utterly shameless!#TrumpLostHistory pic.twitter.com/wvKkpDTqhQ— AliD (@Vetinari3) July 30, 2019
