Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) has a long history of promoting white nationalism on social media and now he’s at it again, taking his game to new disturbing level. His post – which is making the rounds across various platform – proposes and imagines “another civil war”, this time between red states and blue states.
King, who has already been stripped of his committee assignments by GOP leadership because of previous white nationalist posts and comments, added the meme to one of his verified Facebook pages. The meme states “One side has about 8 trillion bullets, while the other side doesn’t know which bathroom to use”, shows the states divided by reds and blues and in the shape of two fighters about to throw punches. King added his own caption “Wonder who would win?”
“White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive? Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?”Steve King, to the New York Times
The photo is no longer available to view on Facebook but it was there long enough for PLENTY of users to see it, screenshot, and then voice their opinions. The Sparrow Project tweeted the original image as posted by Rep. King and said “Can we have a serious conversation about this?” Twitter quickly lit up with responses to the hateful rhetoric, with many questioning how this man is still in Congress.
The Sparrow Project drew attention to the post and people were outraged. Keep scrolling for a look at just a few responses to King’s hateful meme.
Can we have a serious conversation about this? @SteveKingIA posted this image to his facebook yesterday (presumably to own libs), however it is far beyond hyperbole and antithetical to his duties as a Congressman. pic.twitter.com/fp8NgdcBpF— The Sparrow Project (@sparrowmedia) March 18, 201
Bragging about needing 8 trillion bullets to take out 150 million people doesn’t sound as cool as Steve King thinks it does.— Marie Connor (@thistallawkgirl) March 18, 2019
